Duterte nagbabala sa mga bagong appointees: Maging malupit ako kontra korapsyon sa 2017

President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday warned the new government appointees that he will be harsher against corruption in 2017, after he administered their oath of office in Malacañang.

"It's your last call to serve your nation and because I am pleading to you na I hope that we can work together, trust each other. And I said give it to the people this time. Now I will be harsh this time kasi new year nga," he told the about 200 appointees in a speech.

Duterte also informed the appointees of his house rule against "businessmen" being brought to his office.

"Ako, I promise you, I said, there will be no corruption in my office," he said. "As a matter of fact, I discourage people 'yung magdala-dala ng negosyante sa opisina ko."

Duterte said he has zero tolerance with all forms of graft, whether it involves money or simple neglect of the public's welfare.

"Year after year, administration after administration, corruption ang [problema]. We might be able to give them (public) a respite," he said, as he urged the appointees to work hard to serve the people more efficiently.

The new government officials include Duterte's staunch allies such as blogger Mocha Uson (Movie And Television Review And Classification board member) and his campaign's social media head Jose Gabriel "Pompee" La Viña (Social Security System member, representing the employers' group).

Other appointees who took their oath of office include Light Rail Transit Authority administrator Reynaldo Berroya and Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor chairperson Terry Ridon.
